Following the death of her dog, Beth, in November, Queen Camilla has announced that she’s adopted a new rescue puppy, Moley.

The Queen shared the news during an outing in the English town of Canterbury on February 25, telling a member of the public, “I’ve just got a new puppy who’s eight weeks old,” so it looks like it’s time for her to find some of the best puppy food.

When asked about the breed, she answered, “Well, you may well ask! It’s a bit of everything. It’s a rescue dog … Called Moley, looks just like a mole!”

Town & Country reported that Moley is a female puppy from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, where the Queen is patron, and that Moley has a mother who is half Jack Russell terrier – famously Camilla’s favorite breed.

She still has another dog, Bluebell, who was also rescued from Battersea. She adopted Beth in 2011 and welcomed Bluebell the following year, after she was found in a park in London with a painful skin condition.

Both dogs were embroidered on her coronation gown in golden thread, while they’d also appeared alongside her on royal engagements over the years.

The Royal Family announced on social media on November 18 that the Queen’s dog Beth died, describing her as a “much-loved companion.” It’s thought that she was euthanized after being diagnosed with an untreatable tumor.

Camilla is well-known for her love of dogs, as is her husband, King Charles III. And while Beth and Bluebell may have been the first rescue dogs to live at Buckingham Palace, the late Elizabeth II kept many corgis during her reign.

Elizabeth had more than 30 corgis over the years from when she became Queen in 1952 to her death in 2022, and always had at least one at any given time from 1933 to 2018 after her father, King George VI, brought home Dookie for her as a child. She also had at least 10 dorgis, which is a cross between a dachshund and a corgi.

After Elizabeth’s death in September 2022, her son, Prince Andrew, and his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, adopted her two surviving corgis, Sandy and Muick. The latter was gifted to her alongside Ferguson by Andrew and his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, in 2021 to cheer her up while her husband, Prince Philip, was recovering from heart surgery.

Sadly, Fergus died from a heart defect when he was five months old, so a few months later the family gifted her Sandy.
