What is the Westminster Dog Show?
The Westminster Dog Show is the second longest continuously held sporting event in the U.S. and has been televised since 1948. The competition, hosted by the American Kennel Club, brings together thousands of dogs representing hundreds of breeds from around the country to compete in a range of contests from agility to obedience.
With a focus on evaluating breeding stock, the judges pick their winners based on the results of each contest which reveals each dog's ability to positively contribute and improve the next generation of dogs.
