➡️Weight update & important info⬅️ OH MY GOSH!!! So many things to be thankful for today. I weighed in at 11.93 pounds. Since Sept 4th, I have lost .32 pounds. Today, my amazing vet Dr. Barloon at Old Towne Animal Hospital in Fair Oaks, said that I am now in the MAINTAINING stage of weight loss and that I look PERFECT. We started this journey late October of last year...almost a year later and I am PERFECT 💙🎉💙 Who knows where I would be without @dachshundsandfriendsrescue. It takes a lot of time and money to care for a pet like me for as long as they have. I have needed a lot of extensive care and we have fundraised for each thing that has come up. My second knee surgery is Sept 23rd and its going to be approximately $1500. We need your help to fundraise 🙏 This is one step closer to me being adoptable! Please, please consider making a donation via PayPal to dachshundsandfriendsrescue@gmail.com and mention me in the comment! That brings us to the next subject...FM is getting TONS of inquiries about me and when I'll be ready for my forever home. I have my knee surgery coming up very soon. I also have an ophthalmologist appointment Oct 7th for my cataracts. Depending on how everything goes, @dachshundsandfriendsrescue will start taking applications in early October. Some info about me... I am between 2 and 4 years old. I will need a home VERY strict with my diet ; I will eat anything and everything I can and I can not gain weight again. If I gain weight back, it can ruin both of my knee surgeries, cause heart problems, and could cause issues with my back (dachshund part of me). I would do best in a home with no kids, or kids over 12. I love other dogs and cats, especially ones that like to gently play. I love laying outside for some sun but I have to be an indoor dog. I am crate trained. My home should have little to no stairs. I am shy but once you move slow and we have become friends, I will be your best cuddle buddy. I am great in the car and we can go everywhere! Faith the Chiweenie

Faith the Chiweenie is a very lucky pup who has had an incredible weight lost transformation.

She was rescued by Dachshunds and Friends Rescue in November 2019 after she was brought in to the City of Stockton Animal Shelter in California as a a stray. She weighed in at 30 pounds, which is considered morbidly obese for a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. Her foster mom, Nioaka, told The Dodo that she needed to lose at least half of her body weight.

Poor Faith couldn't even really walk on her own, and couldn't follow her other foster brothers and sisters around. So, she started a serious diet and began doing physical therapy three or four times a week, which included water walking and more exercise that would be gentle on her joints. Soon, she started to lose weight, and just this September she weighed in at 11.93 pounds – she's now in the maintaining stage of weight loss.

Unfortunately, Faith needs knee surgeries for Medial Patella Luxation, which is a common issue for small dog breeds that only gets worse with obesity. Dachshunds and Friends Rescue has raised enough money for one of her knee surgeries, and is looking for help raising more, so if you can, donate to help Faith get her knees in good shape!

After all her surgeries and health checkups, Faith's foster mom will be able to start accepting adoption applications, so if you're looking for a Chiweenie that's been through a huge transformation, keep an eye out!
