We love seeing people getting new pets. There’s something inherently enjoyable about someone opening up their world to a new being that they’ll hopefully end up showering with love.

Somehow, that feeling seems to be enhanced tenfold when it’s a famous person – like in this particular case, with actor and former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger taking to Instagram to introduce his 22.1 million followers to his new Leonberger dog, Schnitzel.

Schnitzel – named after Arnie’s favorite dish – joins a household that already includes fellow pooches Dutch, Noodle, and Cherry, donkey Lulu, and miniature horse Whiskey.

As Arnie tells in his Instagram post, there has been the clash of personalities that you would inevitably expect, but all in all, Schnitzel seems to be settling in just fine.

“She and Dutch are already best friends,” says Arnie in his introductory post. “Cherry shows her teeth to her nonstop, and Lulu tried to trample her, so we are working on all of the relationship dynamics. At least Whiskey doesn’t care about anything as long as she gets her food. But she is such a sweet little meatball.”

Also included in the post are a video and another photo of Schnitzel getting very affectionate and playful with the aforementioned Dutch. Best friends indeed. Clearly Arnie treats his dog with a level of love that’s directly proportional to the lack of mercy he shows his various on-screen enemies.

Thus far, his Instagram followers have taken Schnitzel to their hearts. With comments ranging from “She is absolutely gorgeous” to “She’s adorable and so fluffy!”, it’s clear that there aren’t enough superlatives for Schnitzel.

Hopefully we’ll get to see the Hollywood icon show off many more pictures of Schnitzel and the gang – although frankly we’re more intrigued about Whiskey the miniature horse. He really is knocking it out of the park in the names department.
