7 ways to match outfits with your dog (and look great together)
I've found the best matching outfits for dogs and owners that are fun, stylish, and easy to wear
As a pet parent and fashion lover, there's nothing cuter than dressing up a dog –especially when you're both wearing matching attire. While I no longer have a dog myself, there are so many outfits I’d love to try if I could.
You might already own some of the best dog coats, but if you're thinking about taking your dog's wardrobe game to the next level, you'll want to keep reading. I've found seven adorable outfit ideas that are perfect to try with your pooch – from matching accessories to coordinated Crocs.
If, like me, the idea of stepping out in the exact same outfit as your dog feels a little overwhelming, you'll be glad to hear that it doesn’t have to be a bold statement. It can be as subtle as a claw clip or a complementary color, so you don’t have to worry about looking too out there.
Best dog and owner matching outfits
1. Satin pajamas
There's nothing better than slipping into a fresh pair of satin pajamas – something about it just makes you feel like you've got your life in order. So, I can only imagine that getting a matching pair for your dog will make you feel even more put together.
While it's probably not the best idea to let your dog actually sleep in them, it's the perfect attire for cozying up together and watching the best movies every animal lover needs to see.
2. Bathrobes
One thing about dogs is that they love being spoiled with fuss and attention, so they'll definitely appreciate a good old pampering day (which requires a bathrobe, of course!)
Start with a walk in the park (bring the best dog toys for them to chase after), followed by a soothing massage to relax their muscles, focusing on the head and shoulders. Once you're done, finish the day with a warm bath using the best dog shampoo, and wrap them in a cozy bathrobe to keep them dry and warm. Then, sit back and relax in your matching gowns!

3. Knitted hats
Cozy and incredibly cute, matching knitted hats are always a good idea in the winter (if your dog doesn’t mind wearing one).
While they won’t provide much warmth for your pooch, they’re an adorable way to coordinate and come in a variety of colors to match your style. If you've never dressed up your dog before, make sure you introduce new accessories slowly and read their body language for any signs of distress.
4. Bandana and claw clip
Matching with your dog doesn’t have to be attention-grabbing; a claw clip and bandana combo offer a subtle way to ease into it. It's also probably the easiest accessory to introduce to your pup, as they're already used to wearing a collar.
Claw clips always come in handy, making them a stylish accessory you can wear year-round, even when your dog isn’t by your side. This option is also relatively inexpensive since you can pick up both items from affordable stores and find a shade that closely matches.
5. Hoodies
If your dog is lean or small, they likely feel the cold more than the average pooch and might appreciate an extra layer to stay warm.
Like dog coats, a hoodie is a great way to protect your dog from chilly winter weather and is an ideal choice for owners who want to match. The best part? You can easily find plain colors that fit seamlessly into your wardrobe.
6. Quarter-zip sweatshirts
If you love the idea of a hoodie but think the hood might bother your dog, a quarter-zip sweatshirt is a perfect alternative. These are cozy and comfortable for both of you, and the zip makes it easy to fit a collar underneath.
Whether you wear it on walks or while relaxing at home, these pullovers are versatile for any casual occasion and require minimal effort.
7. Crocs
Whether you love them or hate them, you can now buy matching Crocs for you and your dog. They might not be the most glamorous shoes, but I personally love them for their practicality and find them incredibly useful for everyday errands.
Believe it or not, they could also be beneficial for your dog too. Boots are an excellent way to protect dog paws in winter, particularly if there's snow, ice, and salt on the streets which could hurt or damage their delicate paw pads. And just look at how cute they are!
