Aquariums in the United States are full of life, color, and beauty. But the best aquariums don't just put some of the world's rarest, most intriguing, and majestical water-loving creatures within touching distance. The top-rated aquariums go one step further and help educate, conduct research into our oceans, and help rehabilitate injured animals, too.

For example, many aquariums we've listed in our guide are non-profit organizations that focus on conservation and research. While others run community outreach programs designed to inspire and educate on how to protect the planet's largest ecosystem for today, tomorrow, and beyond.
